22-25/31 | January 2010
22/31 – Spotted on the subway. Caprica turned out to be pretty good. I look forward to this week’s episode. I can’t believe they made Eric Stoltz say a line about someone feeling the sun on her face, though. That gave me a giggle.
23/31 – Knitting catnip mice is my new obsession. They’re quick and easy and use up all the little bits of worsted I have lying around, and Xena isn’t complaining.
25(-1)/31 – Yes, I missed a day, but I don’t care. The fact that I’ve made it this far is a small miracle.
Hair color and laundry detergent, that about sums up Tuesday. I’m not really happy with the color, though. I switched from my usual Feria because it doesn’t cover grey very well. This color was meant to be dark golden brown, which I think is pretty close to my real color (which I haven’t seen since 1989), but it has really red highlights. I don’t like red highlights, they really wash out my skin tone.
10 Favorite Movie/Song Remakes
Time for Ten On Tuesday. These are not in order of best liked to least, merely in the order I thought of them.
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
- Forever Young – Jerry Garcia Band – originally by Bob Dylan
- Twelve Monkeys (1995)
- Fisherman’s Blues – Railroad Earth – originally by The Waterboys
- The Birdcage (1996)
- 3:10 to Yuma (2007)
- I Will – Alison Krauss – originally by The Beatles
- Chim-Chim-Cher-Ee – Seldom Scene – originally from Mary Poppins
- Halloween (2007)
- The Ring (2002)
Kind of funny that most of the movie remakes I’ve liked are horror movies.
Flutterings #17
- I’m still alive. That last Twitter post on the blog may have cast some doubt on that, but I am. Still sick, but getting better finally.
- Like the new blog design? I set this up about a month ago to be launched on November 1, and I actually pulled off the launch date. After all the color with Project Spectrum, I wanted something with no color. Or all colors, I suppose. So, white. Nice, plain, soothing white.
- I planned to start a photo a day project on November 1. So yeah, I failed at that already. My excuse is the flu, which I think is a good excuse. I do plan to start it soon, though.
- Knitting has been non-existent while I’ve been sick. The Swallowtail shawl is far too complicated to work on while I feel like this, especially since I’m at the purl 5 together section. And purl 5 together? Wow.
- Still loving Dollhouse, and disappointed that it’s not doing well. The most recent episode, the Sierra one, was really outstanding
Spore, In a Nutshell
It is now a little after 9pm.
At 11am, I thought to myself, “I should go take a shower.” And 20 minutes ago, I finally accomplished that.
Around noon, I thought to myself, “I should really eat something.” And in about 20 minutes, I will be having my first meal of the day.
So, yeah. Spore doesn’t suck.
Shocker
I know a guy who’s bitching and moaning, a lot, about how The Dark Knight is really dark.
If only there’d been some clue so he would have known in advance. They should have made some kind of note about it in the movie title.
Introducing: Pincasor
I’ve been playing around with the Spore Creature Generator.
I cannot WAIT for this game.
Go Packers!
Is that what they say? Or is it “go Pack”?
As you may know, I’m a lifelong Jersey-ite and New Yorker. My mother’s husband, however, is a huge Green Bay Packers fan. With the Giants and the Packers going head to head this weekend, I briefly considered some trash talk with Denny, but then I got this email from him today, where he talked about what it was like at Lambeau Field last week.
I tell you, Internets, he sounded just like me or Scott after seeing Railroad Earth at the Barn party on NYE.
After reading that, I couldn’t bring myself to trash talk him. I mean, I just don’t care enough about football, and he does. So in honor of Denny, I say: Go Packers!
